Reldro, SafetyCulture, HammerTech and SiteDocs: how to compare safety software on construction sites
For subcontractors and safety managers: compare four safety platforms by the work your team needs to complete, from field reporting to verified corrective actions. Includes a practical demo checklist.

Start with a workflow, not a feature count
For your subcontractor crews, use this guidance with the current work phase, trade responsibilities and approved procedures in view. Keep your safety manager involved in record reviews and follow-up. This guidance supports record keeping and coordination, not technical authorization to carry out the work.
To compare safety management software, ask each provider to demonstrate the same real workflow: capture a concern, review its urgency, assign follow-up, investigate where needed, and verify the completed action. A long feature list does not tell you how clearly the team can move between those steps.
This article looks at Reldro, SafetyCulture, HammerTech and SiteDocs using Reldro’s published feature descriptions and the other providers’ official product pages. It is written by Reldro, not an independent testing organization. We have not run a side-by-side product trial, and we do not treat an undocumented capability as an absent one.
The descriptions below are starting points for evaluation, not a ranking. Available features, commercial terms and deployment requirements should be confirmed directly with each provider.
What each provider documents
SafetyCulture’s safety and compliance page describes inspections, reporting and visibility across operations. If your buying brief includes frontline checks across several locations, use its official material to build a trial around the inspection-to-follow-up handover. See the SafetyCulture source linked below.
HammerTech’s platform page presents construction-focused safety and jobsite operations. A contractor evaluating it should test how project teams, subcontractors and planned site work fit the same daily process. The official HammerTech platform page is linked below.
SiteDocs’ features page describes digital safety forms and worker certification records. Teams replacing paper forms should test how completed records are found, reviewed and connected to the people doing the work. See the official SiteDocs features source below.
Reldro’s published features connect hazard reporting, investigation records and corrective actions with ownership and verification. The platform also includes JHA planning, permits, equipment records, SDS, schedules, insurance and licenses, offline reporting and insights. Its AI assistance produces reviewable drafts; people remain responsible for findings and decisions.
Run the same demonstration with all four
Choose a realistic scenario without sharing sensitive personal information. For example, a worker identifies a damaged temporary walkway while two subcontractor crews are preparing to use the area. Ask each provider to show the record from capture through follow-up and review.
Do not let a polished dashboard replace the field test. Have a worker enter the concern, a supervisor review it and an action owner record the fix. Observe what each person can see and what details have to be entered again.
- Capture the location, description and supporting photo. Check who can access the record.
- Assign a named action owner and due date. Find the action from both the concern and the owner’s work list.
- Document the correction and show how someone reviews the completed work.
- Try the field step with an interrupted connection. Check exactly which tasks are supported offline and how pending delivery is shown.
- Ask how records are retrieved for an internal review and which access controls apply.
Compare scope and onboarding separately
Request a written proposal with the same assumptions: sites, team size, subcontractor participation, records to migrate and the support needed at launch. Ask what is included, what is optional and which responsibilities stay with your team. This is more useful than comparing an advertised starting price with a tailored enterprise quote.
Your Reldro plan includes every site operations and safety feature and unlimited users, priced by active sites. Migration is included at no cost, but the records, formats and extent of migration should be agreed with the team before you rely on it. This article does not quote competitor prices or assume their billing models.
- Agree on the records and documents required for the pilot.
- Confirm who will configure forms, access and site information.
- Ask about ongoing support, data export and the terms that apply at renewal.
Choose against your own acceptance criteria
Write the pass criteria before the trial: a worker can submit the concern, a supervisor can find and assign it, an owner can record completion, and a reviewer can understand why it was closed. Add requirements specific to your operation rather than expecting every team to need the same modules.
Use the comparison table as a list of questions, not an assertion that one provider lacks another provider’s capability. The right choice is the one that meets your confirmed needs and works for the people using it each day.
| Platform | Documented focus | What to test |
|---|---|---|
| Reldro | Construction work coordination, equipment and subcontractor records, with reporting, investigation and verified follow-up. | Can your team move from a field concern to an owned action and a reviewed closure? |
| SafetyCulture | Inspections, reporting and operational visibility in its safety and compliance material. | How does an inspection finding reach the person responsible for follow-up? |
| HammerTech | Construction safety and jobsite operations. | How do your subcontractor and project workflows fit the site record? |
| SiteDocs | Digital safety forms and worker certification records. | How are completed forms and certification records retrieved and reviewed? |
The takeaway
Use the same field scenario, acceptance criteria and commercial assumptions for every provider. Compare what you have actually observed, and confirm the scope in writing before choosing a platform.
