Construction equipment maintenance handover: keep the asset record clear
Keep the asset identity, recorded condition and next responsible person clear when your hired generator or access platform moves between crews, jobsites and a maintenance provider. A register entry supports that handover but does not establish that equipment is safe to use.

A shared asset needs a clear handover
A hired generator or access platform may pass between crews, projects and a maintenance provider. Each handover needs an exact asset identity, a recorded condition and a named person responsible for the next step. A register entry supports that conversation but does not establish that equipment is safe to use.
Record the condition before transfer
Describe the observed fault, the current site and any open equipment concerns. Keep the manufacturer’s information and relevant maintenance records with the correct asset. Isolation, repair and return-to-service decisions belong to authorized, competent people following the approved procedure.
Review the return to site
When the equipment comes back, compare the returned asset with the maintenance record. Ask the qualified reviewer what work was completed, which checks were required and whether any restrictions remain. Do not infer suitability from a changed status or a photograph alone.
A construction handover example
Imagine a generator sent for repair during fit-out. The receiving supervisor should locate the correct asset record and the documented assessment before coordinating its return. If the identifier or completed work is unclear, retain the uncertainty and route it to the responsible reviewer.
- Asset identifier and current project
- Observed condition and unresolved concerns
- Maintenance documentation and qualified review
- Named person accepting the handover
The takeaway
Keep construction context, records and responsibility together. Have competent people review the work and confirm the follow-up before relying on a status.
